Light Photography

I am very interested in night photography using movement and long exposure techniques. I admire the work of Rocco Redondo and Naoya Hatakeyama whose light photography inspired me in my final year at University. My photographs are spontaneous and controlled light drawings using a 35mm camera. I am fascinated by line and this approach using the camera as medium to draw with has produced intriguing results.

There are 2 electrical currents which feature in my night photography; AC - Alternating Current which leaves a broken line (mains electricity, street lights etc.) and DC Direct Current which leaves a continuous line (battery operated lights, torches etc.). I have experimented with both, also using a mirror and glass to produce reflections and to distort the light lines. Light photography is the main inspiration for all of my jewellery designs.
